Alexis Chicoine is a motivational speaker, panelist, consultant and workshop builder/facilitator on Disability Awareness and Inclusion. With 20 years of experience she believes in open authentic conversations and is on a mission to help organizations become disability-confident. She finds it rewarding when people have an “aha” moment when they grasp the concept that disability really is an aspect of the overall human experience.

A university graduate with a BSc in Nutritional Sciences and a post graduate diploma in Disability Management Alexis Chicoine has worn many hats over the years. With an entrepreneurial spirit she owned/managed a coffee house until a car accident in 2000 left her a quadriplegic. Life must go on, so she took up wheelchair tennis, playing weekly, and jumped right back into the workforce.

Employed in a number of creative roles (promotions at a national TV station, application support analyst at an international apparel manufacturing company, and coordinating projects for the large organizations) Alexis decided it was time to turn things around and began assisting businesses on how to become more diverse and inclusive. She has found that education can be the most powerful weapon in fighting stereotypes & misinformation.
